New Strategy 'Delivering for North Essex' launched for NEEB

Exciting times are ahead for the North Essex Economic Board (NEEB). NEEB has undergone a robust and research-informed period of planning and development resulting in a new strategy Delivering for North Essex. The strategy will be followed by the Delivering for North Essex action plan in early 2024.

Delivering For North Essex demonstrates a landmark piece of work for NEEB developed alongside Henham Strategy. Despite recent challenging economic circumstances, the North Essex economy stands ready to build on the fantastic opportunities within the region, with its diverse urban, rural and coastal characteristics – differentiating the region from other parts of the country. With these diverse characteristics in mind, this Delivering for North Essex plan has been founded upon four key strategic priorities:

  1. Innovative Businesses and Skilled Residents

A resilient and outward-facing economy that builds on its incumbent strengths and is positioned to deliver economic opportunities for North Essex’s residents and drive inward investment to support businesses within the region’s critical growth sectors.

  1. A Green and High Growth Economy

A forward-looking economy that utilises the diversity of its resources in a sustainable way that furthers North Essex’s clean energy strengths, boosts growth, and promotes residents’ prosperity through net zero commitments.

  1. A Dynamic and Connected Region

A well-connected and digitally linked region that provides residents with quick and reliable access to key services, encourages inward investment, and makes the most of ties to regional and international neighbours.

  1. Prosperous and Inclusive Communities

A thriving and inclusive region where all residents and businesses have the opportunity to contribute and prosper, exemplifying the region as a great place to live, work and visit.

These strategic priorities align with the motivations at the core of what NEEB was set up to support, whilst also developing with the economic landscape across North Essex. Since 2020 NEEB has been: supporting Covid recovery following the pandemic; supporting small businesses in a diverse economic landscape; and offering advice to help businesses adapt through challenging circumstances – NEEB understands that business support is about nurturing businesses as they grow and develop, providing continued support and opportunities.

As part of the new strategy NEEB is funding a number of business support programmes, to help nurture companies of all shapes and sizes in the area to grow, provided by Let’s Do Business Group (LDBG). LDBG offer general business support, alongside more bespoke and specialist advice around finance and digital skills. It supports the green shoots of entrepreneurs and start-ups looking to place their first roots, as well as a guiding hand for firms looking to protect jobs or expand their operations the support is being delivered.

The launch of the new strategy – which is currently in the process of being adopted by each individual NEEB partner – comes alongside a number of free business support activities provided by LDBG’s Blueprint for Business Programme. Blueprint for Business is a new and exciting FREE business growth programme that offers a series of bespoke workshops, webinars and 1:1 events, to help you map out your journey to achieving your business goals.
