The Cheerful Chai coffee shop is Essex’s first ‘Happy Café’, serving a variety of drinks and treats including Chai Latte, freshly made toasties and locally produced cakes. Utilising the Blueprint for Business 1:1 mentoring programme, Cheerful Chai could seek out experienced advice on its business strategy and growth goals.

Cheerful Chai Blueprint for Business Journey
Cheerful Chai is a coffee shop based at the Angel Pavilion in Broomfield, Chelmsford. Owned by Proprietor Myra, the building was formerly home to Broomfield Football Club and had fallen into disrepair. Since purchasing the building and commencing renovations 10 years ago, the venue has become a hub for people to meet over a drink and a snack (it provided a crucial community service throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.) At the Angel Pavilion, people can participate in events such as Pilates, Jayne’s Nursery sessions and many more. https://angelpavilion.co.uk/
On the road to success, Myra navigated various obstacles during the building refurbishment. Covid-19 presented the opportunity to define the business model of coffee shop combined with venue space hire, which has the potential to create a number of new jobs. Myra’s objective is to grow a viable business that is also a contributor to community wellbeing.
How Blueprint for Business helped
Myra understands the value of 1:1 coaching and sought the support of David Adlington. Over the course of seven hours, David helped Myra with a number of strategic and tactical business growth goals.
Sessions took place via ZOOM at a time suited to Myra and after establishing that this business has the potential to be extremely successful, David encouraged Myra to complete her own SWOT ANALYSIS for the business, highlighting strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. This allowed her to determine a LONG-TERM STRATEGY. On a tactical front, David demonstrated how to model CASHFLOWS to gain a clear understanding of the financial picture, in order to determine how and when money flows into and out of the business. This also helps with decision making on expansion plans by modelling at which point in the future certain goals could be achieved.
Finally, David spent time supporting Myra to consider a better future strategy for finding a WORK-LIFE BALANCE.
