Support for Young Market Traders
Budding entrepreneurs will have the chance to trial their products and services in real-world market conditions, gaining invaluable exposure and feedback by presenting their ideas to local communities.
What Support Can I Access?
Seed Funding
We are excited to offer seed funding to young traders looking to attend a local market within the North Essex region.
Applicants will be able to apply for funding of £200 to help with setting up a market stall. Some ideas of what you could use the funding for are:
✔ Product development
✔ Packaging
✔ Display units
✔ Point of sale printing
✔ Card payment machine
✔ Company branding
✔ Marketing
Total funding for the seed funding scheme will be £5,000.
Please note: If successful young traders must trade at least twice within the North Essex region 6 months after receiving the seed funding.
Eligibility
Seed funding is available for young entrepreneurs within North Essex.
They must live in one of the following districts: Braintree, Maldon, Tendring, Uttlesford, Epping Forest district councils, Colchester and Chelmsford city councils.
They must be between 16 and 30 years old at the time of application.
If under the age of 18, please note that a parent or guardian must complete the application on the young person’s behalf.
NMTF Memberships
We are excited to offer fully funded NMTF annual memberships to young traders looking to attend a local market within the North Essex region.
The NMTF is a national trade association for market and street traders, events retailers and mobile caterers providing insurance and support for market traders
Young people can apply for one of x20 annual memberships to the NMTF, and will benefit from the following:
✔ £10 million Public , Product and Employees liabilities insurance
✔ Support, advice and mentoring on tap
✔ HRMC investigation cover
✔ Third parties benefits
✔ NMTF discounted rates for insurances via Fedinsure (stock in transit, business disruption etc)
Total funding for the NMTF Membership scheme will be £3,000.
