DF2020
DF2020
DF2020 is a Maldon-based, innovation-led business co-founded by John Rawlings and Freddie McMahon (pictured). The company develops AI-driven Smart Operating Procedures (SOPs), transforming traditional compliance documents into intelligent governance tools.

DF2020 operates within highly regulated environments, including the NHS and the Facilities Management (FM) sector, where accuracy, accountability and data integrity are critical. As a result of engaging with NEEB Link, DF2020 has significantly strengthened its strategic network across NHS, facilities management and innovation ecosystems.
The support also helped DF2020 clarify its alignment with NHS Cleanliness Standards 2025, supporting future adoption and partnership opportunities.
Discovering NEEB Link
Freddie first engaged with NEEB Link by attending a co-working session at The Plaza, Braintree, hosted by Amanda Allen from The Consortium (East) Ltd. The session provided an opportunity for informal discussion and early exploration of DF2020’s innovation potential.
“NEEB Link has truly expanded our network strategically to reach organisations and individuals that we previously could not access. DF2020’s growth journey is ongoing and NEEB Link is supporting our positioning for future partnerships and adoption opportunities”.
During the follow-up NEEB link intervention, several key challenges were identified, including limited access to senior NHS and FM decision-makers, capacity constraints around marketing and PR, the need to further refine DF2020’s pitch, positioning and engagement with innovation bodies such as NHS Innovation East and Innovate UK.
Through NEEB Link, DF2020 received tailored one-to-one support focused on strengthening its strategic positioning and readiness for high-level engagement. This included guidance on pitch development, governance and commercial value, scalability, and alignment with NHS priorities. Freddie was also given opportunities to practise and refine his pitch in a supportive environment with Graham Broughton and Sarah Brockwell, Directors of The Consortium (East) Ltd.
NEEB Link helps build strong businesses
Using her own personal network as well as the wider NEEB Link network, Amanda facilitated targeted introductions to senior stakeholders and innovation intermediaries.
These included contacts within Mitie Group, Sodexo and Compass Group, as well as an introduction to Arise Innovation Hub at Anglia Ruskin University, which led to participation in co-working sessions and attendance at Medilink Midlands events. Further follow-up connections were made with Agility Life Science, Medilink Midlands CEO Mel Davidson and an exploratory referral to IQVIA, providing valuable external feedback on DF2020’s approach.
Thanks to NEEB Link, the business has gained validation of its solution within regulated, data-driven environments and improved the clarity and quality of its pitch and value proposition.
